Within the city of Chester and only a short drive into surrounding Cheshire or Wales you'll find dozens of simply terrific visitor attractions, There's Beeston Castle at Taporley with it's magnificent views over the Cheshire Plain. If you're of a nautical bent, why not visit Ellesmere Port's Boat Museum.
There are stately halls and castles galore, every one of which offers a fascinating window on the past. The Welsh borderlands is studded with castles and enticing old town including Rhuddlan, Ruthin, Denbigh and St Asaph. You'll discover Bodelwyddan Castle in North Wales, home to the National Portrait Collection, Of course, there's the splendour of Chester's Cathedral as well as a host of more up-to date attractions. These include the chance to see more types of shark than anywhere else in Britain at the Blue Planet Aquarium.
Kids of all ages will love the Dewa Roman Experience, and the award winning Grosvenor Museum is an engrossing introduction to Chester’s past, as is Chester Castle.
