Few cities in Britain can fire up the imagination and conjure up as much excitement as Liverpool. In addition to its long history as a major port and international crossroads, Liverpool, about to become European City of Culture in 2008, is famous on so many other fronts

Liverpool Football Club remains one of the most famous in the world. The city is also renowned for it's remarkable and tenacious urban regeneration over the past three decades. Developments such as the Albert Dock are classic examples of the way a city's fortunes can be turned around.

And of course, there's music. This was the home of the most famous band of them all - The Beatles, and they remain a major draw for millions of tourists around the globe.

With the River Mersey, the historic Liver Building, the Mersey Ferry and the Cavern, plus many more attractions both ancient and modern, it's no surprise that Liverpool has become a superb place to spend your leisure time.
